(Yes, tomorrow.) The app will be free to download, devoid of ads for now, and only compatible with Android. An iOS rollout is expected soon, pending Apple&#8217;s approval.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Facebook did not immediately return Mashable&#8217;s request for comment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pull-quotes\">\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s literally just a few clicks and then live, you\u2019re a streamer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A competitor to sites like Twitch and YouTube, Facebook Gaming aims to capitalize on a growing community of amateur streamers by simplifying the user experience and harnessing the accessibility of mobile games. While Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/gaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">existing gaming presence<\/a> are predominantly PC focused, the mobile app&#8217;s &#8220;Go Live&#8221; feature promises to speed up sharing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of people who listen to music and say, \u2018I can imagine myself being a musician,\u2019\u201d Vivek Sharma, Facebook\u2019s vice president for gaming, told <em>The New York Times<\/em>. \u201cPeople are watching streams and they\u2019re like, \u2018I want to be a streamer,\u2019 and with &#8216;Go Live&#8217; it\u2019s literally just a few clicks and then live, you\u2019re a streamer.\u201d<\/p>\n<!-- Quick Adsense WordPress Plugin: http:\/\/quickadsense.com\/ -->\n<div class=\"c5b541d88d911dcbb84397def1a3492d\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:0px 0 0px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- 2 -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3943282228430444\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"5511153269\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Creators will be able to share livestreams to their personal Facebook pages \u2014 a tool particularly handy amidst <a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/article\/coronavirus-social-distancing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social distancing<\/a> measures \u2014 as well as play &#8220;casual&#8221; games included in the app. Per <em>The New York Times, <\/em>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/gaming-usage-up-75-percent-coronavirus-outbreak-verizon-reports-1285140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">increase in gaming popularity<\/a> due to coronavirus motivated Facebook to accelerate the app&#8217;s launch, initially planned for June. Over the past 18 months, Facebook Gaming has been tested in Southeast Asia and Latin America. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To keep the app ad-free, Facebook allows users to give donations (aka &#8220;stars&#8221;) to streamers they like.
