Specifically, potentially up to 2,300 &#8220;phone booths&#8221; in its co-working spaces are contaminated with formaldehyde.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yikes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company alerted customers to the news via email, which was helpfully <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZisserZappy\/status\/1183724782438834177\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shared on Twitter<\/a> by Rachel Kaplowitz \u2014 the CEO of intranet company <a href=\"https:\/\/honey.is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Honey<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are taking a number of phone booths at your location out of service due to potentially elevated levels of formaldehyde caused by the manufacturer,&#8221; read the email. &#8220;After a member informed us of odor and eye irritation, WeWork performed an analysis, including having an outside consultant conduct a series of tests on sampling of phone booths.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-wrapper sort-rerender\">\n<div>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Bad month for wework. Kaplowitz (@ZisserZappy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZisserZappy\/status\/1183724782438834177?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 14, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>And, well, it turns out that 1,600 booths in U.S. and Canada &#8220;may be impacted.&#8221; Another 700 were pulled &#8220;out of an abundance of caution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We reached out to the email WeWork provided for anyone with &#8220;additional questions&#8221; regarding the toxic mess, but did not receive an immediate response. Which is a shame, because we&#8217;d love to know how long it took the company to conduct the tests after it first received the initial complaint.
